Will You Be Pregnant in 2021?
By Francis Polansky, M.D.
Over the last several years, it has been realized that the outcome of In Vitro Fertilization and related treatments is decided before the treatment starts. The quality of eggs and sperm will determine the treatment outcome rather than the physician's expertise or the IVF laboratory's performance.
In other words, what you bring to the table, so to speak, will be the determining factor of your treatment's outcome. Your health and fitness relate to the quality of your eggs and sperm. Our experience shows that an improvement in one's health can result in higher quality eggs and sperm.
To improve your probability of success, consider the following recommendations:
Optimize your health and your fertility potential.
- Eliminate all grain-based foods from your diet. The most damaging to our health is the consumption of wheat and corn, followed by rye, oats, and rice.
- Eliminate all forms of sugar. Start reading ingredients labels in a grocery store. The first two weeks are hard, after that it gets easier.
- Strenuous exercise minimum three times a week. You need to "break a sweat".
Optimize your weight.
Studies have shown that with each uptick in a woman’s BMI, there is a lowering of the probability of pregnancy.
Overweight men produce increased levels of female hormones, sometimes dramatically decreasing their sperm quality.
Optimize your mental wellbeing
One's stress level can play a significant role in the fertility treatment outcome. Hostile mood, depression, and higher anxiety have all been shown to correlate with treatment failure.
There are many stress-reducing techniques. Some of the more popular methods that could increase your probability of success are:
- Support groups
- Massage therapy
- Taking time off from work
Get actively involved in preparation for your treatment. YOU are the ones who will most significantly influence whether "You will be pregnant in 2021!"
