Will You Be Pregnant in 2022?
By Francis Polansky, M.D.
The quality of eggs and sperm determines the outcome of In Vitro Fertilization and related treatments. Unfortunately, neither the physician's expertise nor the IVF laboratory's performance can improve the egg and sperm quality.
Your health and fitness relate to the quality of your eggs and sperm. Our experience shows that improving one's health can result in higher quality eggs and sperm.
In other words, what you bring to the table, so to speak, will be the determining factor of your treatment's outcome.
To improve your probability of success, consider the following recommendations:
Optimize your health and your fertility potential.
- Eliminate all grain-based foods from your diet. The most damaging to our health is the consumption of wheat and corn, followed by rye, oats, and rice.
- Eliminate all forms of sugar from your diet. Pay attention to the ingredients labels in a grocery store. Any amount of sweet fruits is OK.
- Exercise a minimum of three times a week. You need to "break a sweat" for the exercise to be beneficial.
Optimize your weight.
Studies have shown that with each uptick in a woman’s BMI, there is a lowering of the probability of pregnancy.
Overweight men produce increased levels of female hormones, sometimes dramatically decreasing their sperm quality.
Optimize your mental wellbeing
One's stress level can play a significant role in the fertility treatment outcome. For example, hostile mood, depression, and higher anxiety have all been correlated with treatment failure.
There are many stress-reducing techniques. Some of the more popular methods that could increase your probability of success are:
- Support groups
- Massage therapy
- Taking time off from work
Get actively involved in preparation for your treatment. YOU are the ones who will most significantly influence whether "You will be pregnant in 2022!"
