What to Expect During Your Initial Visit at Bay IVF
A new patient appointment at a fertility clinic can be stressful. It is our goal to make your initial visit with us as friendly and relaxing as possible.
When you arrive for your first appointment, you will be greeted by one of the Clinic receptionists. You will have your height and weight measured, and your blood pressure will be taken by one of our nurses.
To make you feel as comfortable as possible, we try to schedule new patient visits so that there are a minimum number of patients in the reception area when you arrive for your appointment.
Dr. Polansky will greet you in the waiting area and bring you to his office. He has reviewed your medical and reproductive history before your appointment. He will ask you a series of clarifying questions and then present you with a summary of the causes of your infertility.
You will then discuss with him the most appropriate reproductive treatment(s) for you. You will have an opportunity to ask as many questions as you might have.
Once all your questions have been answered, one of the nurses will bring you to an exam room. Your examination will start by listening to your lungs and heart.
The next step is an ultrasound of the ovaries and the pelvic area. The ultrasound examination will determine the number of antral follicles (seen as dark circles within the ovaries). The total number of antral follicles corresponds with one's egg quality. Knowing the antral follicle count helps determine the most appropriate treatment for you.
You will then have another opportunity to ask Dr. Polansky any questions you might have at that point.
This completes the medical portion of your initial appointment, and you will then meet with one of the office managers to learn about the financial part of your treatment.
Your entire visit will take approximately one hour.
There will likely be additional questions you will think of after you have left the Clinic. Please call, text, or email us. Frequent and discreet communication is very important to us.
We look forward to meeting you at Bay IVF and, when your treatment is successful, celebrating your new pregnancy!
